There are two types of bedwetting which is primary and secondary.

Primary bedwetting

That bedwetting has been ongoing since early childhood without any break. In primary bed wetting, a child has never been dry at night for a significant length of time.

Secondary bedwetting

It starts again at least after 6 months when the child has been dry at night for a significant period of time.

There are some reasons behind the bed wetting:

These types of causes are likely due to one or a combination of the following:

  • Genetic reason: Children who wet the bed may have a genetic problem which tends to have parent, aunt, uncle, or grandparent who wet the bed until a late age.
  • Medical issues: Medical issues occur due to a urinary tract infection (UTI) and there is a difference in the way the body is built such as small bladder or making too much urine.
  • Sleep: When the Child is asleep, they are more likely to wet the bed. The deeper the sleep, the more bedwetting occurs.
  • Time problem. Some children take extra time to develop control of their bladder and they produce a large amount of urine during the evening and night hours.
  • Some Stress. After being dry for a long time, some life changing can lead to children wetting the bed like moving or a new sibling, or other stressors.
  • Diabetes: when your child usually dries at night, bed-wetting may be the first sign of diabetes.

Some tips how you can fix bedwetting:

  • You can reduce drinks before going to bed and don’t drink Caffeine because it makes kids need to pee.
  • Ask your children to use the bathroom 15 minutes before going to bed for sleep and again right before bed.
  • Remove all electronic and pets from the room where your child is sleeping and make sure that your child is getting enough sleep.
  • Teach your child to hide their bedwetting and they have help with clean up. Never punish your kids because of this stress is increased.

Time- when you need a doctor:

Some time, you deal with such type of situation when you need a little help from doctor because bedwetting may be a sign of an underlying condition which needs some medical treatment.

Consult a doctor if your child:

  • still wets the bed after the age of seven
  • Has to pee more often.
  • Has swelling of the feet or ankles.
  • Is accompanied by painful urination and pink or red urine, or snoring.
  • Starts again wetting the bed after a few months of being dry at night.

Bed-wetting can create some issues for your child, including:

  • The Guilt and embarrassment can lead to low self-esteem of children
  • There are Rashes on the child’s bottom and genital area when your child sleeps in wet underwear.
  • Because of bedwetting there are Lots of opportunities for social activities

Most children outgrow Bed-wetting by about 7 years old. By this age, bladder control becomes stronger and more fully developed.
