Quit Smoking Weight Gain

Smoking is very dangerous for our health. But, after the end of the HSC exam result, most of the student start smoking. Nowadays, some people are concerned about the prospect of gaining weight when they quit smoking. It is indeed true that many people do gain some pounds after they stop reaching for the cigarette pack.

You see, smoking cessation slows down the body chemistry back to its normal, healthy state. In addition, food will taste better (oh, this is true!), so, it’s likely that you’ll eat more.

Furthermore, when you first quit smoking, it can seem like you don’t know what to do with your hands. Remember, it’s often overlooked just how habitual smoking is… just how much habit and ritual are involved with the whole process!

So, when you give up the cigs, you might find yourself reaching for cookies and cupcakes to satisfy your hands! You see, it is true that smokers tend to weigh a bit less than nonsmokers. There is plenty of data and research that demonstrates the unnatural effect smoking has on the human metabolism: essentially, it speeds it up.

So, you put down the cigarettes and the metabolism return to normal. Now, what I think is most important to remember is that if you do gain weight, the added weight is much less of a health hazard than your smoking!!! Remember that!!! Now, what I recommend for those quitting smoking is to join up with a gym at the same time that you quit. This is what I did, and, I am very happy with this decision. And, doesn’t it just make sense? Quitting smoking is about getting healthy, so, what could complement that better than membership at your local health club!

Some tips for things to do when you feel hungry.

  • Drink a big glass of water. You know, I can’t say enough good things about drinking water, and, it’s amazing because (I don’t know why this works), but, the water actually helps to curb nicotine cravings.)
