How to quit smoking with the help of an e-cigarette

Millions of smokers suffer from their addiction and dependency to cigarette smoking and a large number of these smokers are reaching out for help. Cigarette smoking is one of the major preventable causes of death although cultural influences makes quitting nearly impossible. In most cultures, smoking is an accepted and a welcomed habit, making it easy for individuals to pick up smoking while making it hard for them to ditch it altogether. Luckily for smokers of this generation, the advancements on today’s technology made quitting a little bit easier. Sure, you’d still have to deal with all the physical and psychological symptoms of withdrawal, but with the help of nicotine replacement products, ditching the habit has been made easier than ever.

The era of e-cigarettes

E-cigarettes or vaporizers such as Ooze are an electronic alternative to smoking, in most cases, e-cigs are made to look like the conventional cigarette as it will ease up the transition from the traditional tobacco product to the new electronic alternative. In essence, e-cigarettes are healthier than commercial cigarette smoking since they produce vapors instead of smoke. Here are a few facts to help you understand the idea of the difference between smoke and vapor.

Smoke is produced when dried plant matter is burned. Combustion is the process involved and is responsible for converting plant matter to smoke. The danger in combustible plant matter is that it creates unstable by-products due to the anatomical breakdown of its components. These by-products are harmful to the human body and can cause a lot of health concerns for the one inhaling it like cancer amongst other issues.

Vapors, on the other hand, produces fewer toxic by-products. Of course, it’s not entirely safe since it still carries some irritants that may cause coughing and itching but it poses less threat to the consumer. It’s sort of like the lesser evil between the two.

In e-cigarettes, vapor is produced by heating the e-liquid without reaching the point of combustion. This means that the materials are not burned therefore not creating smoke and any of its toxic by-products. The e-liquids used in vaporizers will still carry traces of nicotine so you won’t have to deal with the sudden and abrupt loss of nicotine in your body. The good thing about e-cigarettes is that they let you control the amount of nicotine you take in making it one of the most effective means of weaning your body off of nicotine.

How to use e-cigarettes

First, make sure that you’ve decided to quit smoking, this will ensure that you stick to using e-cigarettes and will prevent you from going back to conventional cigarette smoking. Next, gauge how much cigarettes you consume in a day. The amount of cigarette you smoke will give you an idea of how strong your nicotine tolerance is. From here, you can make up how much nicotine your e-liquids must have (don’t worry because you can always adjust the nicotine level to where you feel comfortable), you can always change the nicotine strength of your e-liquid but you must remember that the goal is to reach zero nicotine level – yes there are e-liquids with zero nicotine levels.

Take your last pack of cigarette and start vaping.

Here are a few things you might want to try to keep yourself into vaping.

  • Switch e-liquid flavors
  • Try different inhaling methods
  • Try different vaporizers
  • Slowly reduce your nicotine level

You’d want to switch your e-liquids from time to time since you could develop vaper’s tongue if your keep on using the same e-liquid. Trust us when we say vaper’s tongue sucks, all vape liquids will start to taste the same; bland, dry, and dull. If you’re reading this and you have vaper’s tongue, just grab a handful of coffee beans – your local vape shop should have some – take a whiff, let your nose rest for a few minutes, take another whiff and get back to tasting new e-liquids. This will help cleanse your nostrils and will give your senses a much-needed reboot.

You can also try different inhaling methods to spice up your sessions. One of the most common inhaling methods used by smokers is what we call mouth to lung (MTL) hits. This is how you draw smoke from a cigarette, let it rest on your mouth, and then pull it down to your lungs. It reduces the throat hit but it lets you enjoy more of the flavor of the vapors if you do this while vaping. Next, is what we call direct lung (DL) hits where you draw from the vaporizer and send the vapors straight to your lungs. The advantage of DL hits is that you can take more vapors than being limited to the capacity of your mouth. DL hits are preferred by cloud chasers while MTL hits are often favored by connoisseurs who are in it for the flavor of the e-liquids rather than the ridiculous display of vapor DL hits yield.

Having said, you should also try different vaporizers as different setups will give you different outcomes. In this day and age, one of the most popular vapes are pod-based vaporizers. Pod vaping is a new platform geared towards a convenient experience and ease of use.

Lastly, keep your head in the game. The end goal is to reach zero nicotine level so make sure you watch your e-liquids so you can monitor the amount of nicotine you take. Slowly reducing nicotine intake lets your brain get used to lower levels of nicotine and it lets your brain recover from the loss of nicotine receptors better than quitting cold turkey. Always remember that your body is trying to cope up with the amount of nicotine your brain is used to, so slowly reducing the amount of nicotine will help you fight off withdrawal symptoms like the dreaded smoker’s flu and other minor symptoms.

Statistical data shows that smokers who use nicotine replacements have a higher success rate in quitting than those who quit cold turkey.
