How To Make Oregano Oil and Why Every Survivalist Needs It

Every survivalist’s bug-out bag, first-aid kit, and bathroom cabinet should contain oregano oil because it is simple to prepare. Oregano oil is your go-to remedy for everything from flu to bacterial infections to sore throats. It only takes a few weeks for your oregano oil to mature after you make it, but once it does, it will continue to heal for weeks. The wild oregano oil of Australia has been a popular one for treating infections and lets find out how you can make them easily –

Snip the branch of the oregano slightly below the leaves to harvest it. Just before the plant flowers is the greatest time to harvest because this is when it is most potent.

The simplest technique to accomplish this is to run the fingers of the opposite hand along the stem while holding the branch’s tip between your finger and thumb. If the stem is sufficiently woody, the leaves will fall off in your hand. The stem may break if it is delicate, but you can still add these to your oil without any negative consequences.

After you get the neat pile of flowers and leaves, you need to crush them using pestle and mortar. If crushing them looks difficult, you can chop off the leaves into small pieces.

When the oregano is prepared, place it in a clean glass jar, cover it with the preferred oil, give it a short swirl, and then cap the jar.

Heat some water in a pot as you work. Put the jar with the herbs and oil into the saucepan after the water has reached a rolling boil, then turn off the heat.

To start the infusion process, warm the contents for five to ten minutes.

After your jar has dried off and been in a warm bath for one to two weeks, remove it from the water and place it on a windowsill. The contents of teh jar should be shaken once everyday to avoid sedimentation.

When the two weeks are over, filter the oregano out of the oil, put it in a dispenser container, and you’re ready for nearly anything. If kept chilled, homemade oregano oil can last for up to a year. Add a few drops of grapefruit or lemon oil, which are natural preservatives, to make it last longer.

Is it better to make the oil on your own?

Making your own oregano oil has several advantages, one of which is that you may regulate its potency and experiment with your formula until you find the ideal strength for your requirements.

Unlike essential oregano oil, which is not advised for internal use, you can experiment with dosage and application.

In addition to being pricey, over-the-counter oregano oil can vary in strength, contain alcohol, GMO substances, additives, and preservatives.

Growing your own herbs and creating your own treatments will give you the upper hand if the things get bitter because there is no guarantee that you would be able to purchase anything in a survival situation, let alone specialty items like herbal oils.

Oregano oil an effective antibacterial solution that can prevent the spread of damaging microbes.

Recent occurrences served as a timely reminder that the human population is always at risk from new infections. Survival in a hostile new environment may depend on having oregano oil on hand to treat respiratory issues, coughs, sore throats, and nasal congestion.

It can be used for a number of treatments including –

  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Poor digestion
  • Bronchitis
  • Headaches
  • Toothache
  • Asthma
  • Athlete’s foot and other fungal infections
  • Indigestion

Even though homemade oregano oil may not be as strong as 100% therapeutic-grade essential oil, there are still some advantages to it. Homemade oil is less likely to burn skin when applied topically and is safer to consume orally. Because it has a longer shelf life than the majority of antibacterial medications and can destroy almost all bacteria, oregano oil is practically indispensable in all survival and emergency situations.
