How To Make CBD Oil at Home in Simple Diy Steps
Everyone loves to sit back and relax during a holiday. Sundays are often the laziest days with most of us either smoking pot and chilling out with friends or playing casino games at our favourite live casinos such as the ones found at Live Roulette Info. Nonetheless, we stoners love to have Hemp oils. Although THC is known for its mind-altering substances, CBD is not psychoactive and has a lot of positive effects on our body like having anti-inflammatory properties, curing mental health disorders and preventing cancer from spreading. It is not a surprise, therefore, why people are resorting to making CBD oils at home instead of opting for the commercial vials. Check out this section to know everything about CBD Oil extraction.
Popular Strains to consider for making CBD Oil
- Charlotte’s Web: CBD content around 20%
- ACDC: Popular for treating anxiety, migraines, and inflammation
- Harlequin: Has high levels of both THC as well as CBD
- Harle Tsu: THC less than 12%, 22% CBD
Method 1: Ethanol Method
This process doesn’t require any special skills or equipment. As alcohol does not leave an unpleasant odour, it is used as an extracting agent.
Keep the weed in a glass bowl or in a ceramic bowl. Put alcohol in it up to the brim and stir it for approximately 6 minutes. You can use a wooden spoon to extract the resin. Take a straining bag or cheesecloth and filter the solvent out of the container. Keep on squeezing until the extract stops pouring. Remember! Every drop matters!
Pour the oil in a double boiler and start heating. Heat it until the alcohol starts evaporating. Do not raise the temperature as the CBD might evaporate away if the temperature hits 300 celsius. Simmer it for around 30 minutes at low heat until all the alcohol evaporates, then mix it simply. Take a storage bottle and transfer the concentrated CBD oil there. Keep the lid tight to preserve its effectiveness and quality.
Method 2: Rick Simpson’s Method
Please the weed in a food grade bucket or steel pot. Put chilled isopropyl alcohol on it and then crush the mix for five minutes with a wooden spoon. Make sure the plant is completely immersed and crush the mixture again for five minutes to wash the trichomes out from the plant matter. Block the bucket with a lid and pour the rest of the material in a second container. Pour alcohol again into the first bucket for the second wash. Crush it on a wooden utensil for the second wash. Repeat the step again and pour the content in the second container. You can do a third wash but that is not necessary as most of the resins have dissolved in the alcohol by now. Leave the solvent to rest.
Put a coffee filter on the mouth of funnel and pour the mixture in a second bucket to filter out the excess plant matter. Filter as many times as possible. You need to be careful with the next step as alcoholic fumes are toxic and flammable. Put a fan near the vent so that it can circulate the toxic fumes and prevent it from condensing to ignition temperature. Fill a rice cooker with three quarters if the solvent mixture and don’t fill it. We are using rice cooker here as it is automatically set to sustain temperatures in the decarboxylation sweet spot. Put the fan running and set the cooker to the highest setting. Add ten to twelve drops of water. It will help to clean the oil residue. Swirl the contents to dispose of the last traces of boiling alcohol. The oil will emit a crackling sound, so don’t get afraid!
Cool the mixture for five minutes and put it in a stainless steel measuring cup, and place the cup on a coffee warmer to remove remaining water. After the bubbling has stopped, take a syringe and draw the greasy mixture out. Store it in a dry and dark place for best results. For the leftovers, you can add more oil and boil it or clear it out with a slice of bread and consume it later.
Method 3: Oil Method
This is similar to method one but you have to use oil instead of alcohol. We recommend using high-quality olive oil for the best taste. Heat the weed in a container with half oil and half water to stop it from burning. Keep it at 200 Celcius and then simmer it after bringing to a boil. After 3 hours, strain it through a cheesecloth and you have your CBD oil. Place it in a proper container in a dry, cool, and dark space to maintain its longevity.
Method 4: CO2 Method
You can extract the purest form of weed by pushing CO2 at high pressure and low temperature. It acts as a solvent and is very safe and effective but requires expensive equipment. You need to have lab equipment that can convert CO2 gas into a liquid by assuring the temperature falls below 69 degrees Fahrenheit while raising the pressure to over 75 pounds per square inch (psi). Next, increase the temperature and pressure past the supercritical point. Raise the temperature with a heater and pass the supercritical CO2 through a CBD rich cannabis plant to extract out the trichomes and terpene oils. The required stuff is placed in the collector and the CO2 goes through a condenser and is turned back into a liquid. Repeat the steps, again and again, to get the CBD oil in the container tray.
We promise that after trying out one of these extraction methods, the Sundays won’t be the same again for you! All the best! Peace!
