How to Use CBD for Arthritis and Joint Pain

Science is touting CBD extract as the latest, most effective solution, CBD for arthritis and joint pain safely, without the horrid side effects of most painkillers. Research shows CBD oil highly efficient at managing pain, increasing dexterity, and improving quality of life overall. If pain medications have been ruining your life, then cannabidiol, or CBD, might be worth giving a try.

Understanding CBD Extract

Cannabis plants contain more than 100 different cannabinoids, most commonly tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, and CBD. Unlike THC, which is the psychoactive compound responsible for making you “high,” CBD does not alter your mental state. Instead, it promises a horde of medical and health benefits, only one of which is relief from chronic pain.

In fact, the therapeutic properties of CBD go far beyond simply relieving pain. Scientists already proved, in many research studies and clinical trials, that CBD is a potential treatment for an array of different health issues, including diabetes, drug addiction, alcoholism, multiple sclerosis, seizures, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, inflammation, and so much more, even arthritis and chronic joint pain.

How CBD Oil Relieves Arthritis-Related Joint Pain

CBD has the unique ability to affect the immune system, which makes it a natural treatment for autoimmune disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis. Science never lies. According to the Oxford Academic, a study by Dr. Sheng-Ming Dai of the Second Military Medical University in China found unusually high levels of CB2 receptors in arthritic joint tissues.

Since many studies already prove CBD effective at fighting inflammation, particularly in the joints, by activating the pathways of CB2 receptors in the endocannabinoid system, it is immediately apparent how CBD relieves joint and arthritic pain. CBD extract also interacts with CB1 receptors in the brain, which alters human perception of pain and ultimately alleviates the discomfort.

Using CBD for Arthritis and Joint Pain

There are many ways to consume CBD. The method of delivery that you choose will greatly affect how long it takes to feel relief and how long those effects will last. Hundreds of different CBD products exist, as well, from CBD-rich flowers to CBD concentrates, such as oils, tinctures, edibles, capsules, and topicals, to name a few. Before you buy CBD, consider how you will consume it:

Inhaling CBD

Smoking or vaping CBD concentrates is the fastest way to get pain relief. However, effects are also the shortest, so you will need to take several doses throughout the day. Since you inhale CBD directly into the lungs, which send it immediately to the bloodstream, you will get relief from pain within minutes. Vaping CBD oil is more popular than smoking it, but both are highly effective.

Ingesting CBD

You can swallow CBD extract, usually in edibles, but also directly. People add CBD oil to their food or drinks, but many drop it under the tongue too. If taken sublingually, or under the tongue, the effects kick in fast. Since the mucous membranes of the mouth absorb it quickly into the bloodstream. If you eat it, however, then expect relief in an hour or two, as it must first go through the digestive process.

Applying CBD

Many topical CBD products exist. They work by providing localized relief to a targeted area, and they work externally. Unless you use transdermal CBD patches, the skin is not permeable enough to absorb CBD into the bloodstream. Despite this, topicals are highly effective, as they interact with CB2 receptors already in the area to reduce inflammation and relieve pain.

Buy CBD Online

You can find more CBD products online than you would at a marijuana dispensary or health store. Before you buy CBD, however, there are some things to know first. Quality is everything when it comes to effectiveness. You want a product with a high CBD concentration. Too little renders dosages useless. You also want a product free of contaminants, such as heavy metals, pesticides, and pathogens.

Always check CBD products for verifiable laboratory test results. There should be information telling you exactly how much CBD is in the product, as well as if it contains any THC or other cannabinoids. Additionally, only use trusted and reputable suppliers and manufacturers, and since hemp is illegal in the United States, be careful of those claiming to grow hemp here.
