Existing Treatments for Erectile Dysfunction: Here’s What You Should Now

Impotence or erectile disorder (impotence) is the failure to obtain and maintain an erection enough to be sexually attractive. Sometimes, having trouble with erections isn’t always a cause for worry. If it’s an on-going issue, it could cause anxiety, decrease confidence in yourself and lead to problems in relationships. Troubles in obtaining or maintaining an erection may indicate a medical condition that requires treatment.

If you’re worried about an erectile dysfunction problem, talk to your physician even if you are ashamed. Sometimes, treating the root erectile dysfunction problem is enough to reverse erectile dysfunction, and in other instances, medication or other treatments may be required.

Causes

Sexual arousal in men is a complicated process that involves the brain, hormones, emotions, nerves, blood vessels, and muscles. Erection deficiency can occur from any problem.. Additionally, stress and mental health problems can worsen or cause the condition. Sometimes, a combination and psychological problems can lead to erectile dysfunction.

Risk factors

As you age the erections may become more difficult to get and may not be as strong. It is possible that you require more direct contact with your penis to maintain and get an erection. Many risk factors can be a contributing factor to erectile dysfunction such as:

1. Medical condition: Diabetes or heart conditions

2. Tobacco use: Restricts blood flow to veins and arteries.

3. Treatments:  Prostate surgery or radiation treatment for cancer

4. Injuries: nerves damage or arteries that control erections

5. Medications: antidepressants, antihistamines, etc.

6. Psychological conditions: such as Anxiety, depression or stress

7.     Drug and alcohol use: Long term drugs usage and heavy drinking.

Diagnosis

For many, performing a physical exam and answering a few questions (medical history) is all it takes for a doctor to determine erectile dysfunction and suggest a treatment. If you’re suffering from chronic health issues and your physician suspects an underlying problem could be involved, you may require additional tests or an appointment with an expert. Testing for underlying conditions could include:

  1. Physical exam: The doctor may begin by conducting a physical exam to determine your general health. The doctor will examine your testicles and penis and examine your nerves. Additionally, he may examine your rectal area to determine prostate health.
  2. Blood and Urine tests: Based on the physical examination and your sexual and medical background, your doctor might decide to conduct specific urine and blood tests. They’ll conduct these tests to look for any issues that could result in erectile dysfunction like heart disease, Diabetes, Kidney disease, Hormonal problems, such as low testosterone. They can also examine the thyroid function of your body. Thyroid aids in the production of hormones for sex. The test will tell you if it works properly.
  3. Ultrasound: A doctor usually conducts the test at a hospital. It is performed using a transducer device, placed on top of those blood vessels that supply the penis. It generates a video to allow your doctor to determine whether you are suffering from blood flow issues. The test can be performed by injecting a medication into the penis to increase blood flow and create an erection.
  4. Psychological examination: Your doctor can ask questions on the screen with other possible psychological causes of stress and erectile dysfunction.

 Weak Erection Treatment

The first step for weak erection treatment your doctor will take is ensuring that you’re receiving the appropriate treatments for your health condition that may be causing or aggravated your erectile dysfunction.

The causes and degree of your erectile dysfunction as well as any other health issues you may have a range of treatments. Your physician will describe the potential risks and benefits of each option and take into consideration your personal preferences. The preferences of your partner could influence your treatment options

  1. Oral medicines: Oral medications can be a very effective treatment for erectile problems for many men. They comprise Sildenafil, Tadalafil, Vardenafil, and Avanafil. Each of these medications increases its effects on Nitric Oxide; an organic chemical your body produces that relaxes the muscles of the penis. This improves blood flow, which gives you the ability to experience an erection when you are under sexual stimulation.
  2. Penis pumps: A penis pump (vacuum device for erection) is a hollow tube fitted with a battery or hand pump that powers that. The tube is positioned over the penis, and using the pump; you draw out the air trapped inside the tube. This creates a vacuum that can draw liquid into the penis. When you experience an erection, you put a tension ring over the penis’s base to hold the blood and ensure it stays firm. Then, you take off the device that is a vacuum.
  3. Penile Implants: This procedure involves the surgical placement of devices on both penis sides. The implants are made up of malleable or bendable rods. Inflatable devices permit you to decide when and the length of your sexual experience. The plastic rods help keep your penis firm and flexible.
  4. Exercise: Recent studies have shown that exercise, specifically mild to intense aerobic activities, may improve erectile dysfunction. Even less strenuous exercise could reduce the chance of developing erectile dysfunction.
