A study report published in the British Journal of Pharmacy and reproduce in PMC by US National Library of Medicine, National Institute of Health, reads that, The anti-emetic effect of cannabinoids has been shown across a wide variety of animals that are capable of vomiting in response to a toxic challenge……The primary non-psychoactive compound in cannabis, cannabidiol (CBD), also suppresses nausea and vomiting within a limited dose range. The anti-nausea/anti-emetic effects of CBD may be mediated by indirect activation of somatodendritic 5-HT1Areceptors in the dorsal raphe nucleus; activation of these autoreceptors reduces the release of 5-HT in terminal forebrain regions. Preclinical research indicates that cannabinioids, including CBD, may be effective clinically for treating both nausea and vomiting produced by chemotherapy or other therapeutic treatments.”
Otherwise, having constantly viewed differently since 1930s, during the second half of 1990s, scientists and various medical scholars started exploring cannabis for the treatment of cancer, side effects of chemotherapy & Radiation. In 1996, Californians led the Nation & voted in favor of Prop 215, thereby paving the way for legalization of marijuana for the treatment of certain specific conditions. Strains that contain higher levels of CBD are more beneficial in the treatment of nausea and vomiting.
